September 16th is theday when Mexicans explode with nationalism, if we feel that we give everythingfor Mexico on any given day, this day we feel like we could eat all the tacosin the world, that dress ourselves in the national colors is a must and thatlistening to some mariachi makes our hearts go boom; this is when we celebrateone more year of being independent, of being the Mexico we know today, and thisday, prouder than ever, we shout: Viva Mexico!
We know that the world circumstances due to theCovid-19 pandemic are not ideal to celebrate big time but that won’t stop usfrom shouting to the world our love to Mexico. If we Mexicans are known for something, that’s for putting a happy face to adversities and always overcoming thebarriers we may meet. This year won’t be the exception and we will be wellconscious that, even though our country has been severely affected by thesanitary situation, we’ll be thankful that we’re still standing strong, thatwe’re always solidary with one another and we’re certain that, when all of thisis over, Mexico will be a much stronger country than it was before, as italways happens after a complicated situation.
Let’s celebrate the fact that Mexico is acountry full of culture, that we have one of the best gastronomies in theworld, that our natural resources are hugely varied and majestic and that ouridiosyncrasy has always given us the advantage, the world loves us simply forbeing who we are, for being Mexicans.
Even though the celebrations on this September16th will have to be a little different and we won’t be able to go out to thestreets and celebrate with the crowds, we certainly can celebrate with our families, cook a Mexican feast, listen to tons of Vicente Fernández music, andespecially, be better citizens than ever. To take care of our beaches andrivers, to be honest with whoever crosses our path, to help someone in need. Theseare the qualities that have been part of the Mexican people and we want this toshow more and more.
Remember that we canbreathe Mexico on every corner of Puerto Vallarta, just by taking a walkthrough the Downtown streets, with the safety measures of social distancing andwearing a face mask, our hearts will fill with Mexican love and will make usremember our commitment with this country, of doing better every day andbecoming the citizens this country deserves. ¡Viva México!
